Hello, our 3 year old male Dalmatian (neutered) has started to get a skin issue and we cant work out what is causing it. We have 3 others in the house with no issues. He came home from boarding with a tiny patch on his neck which looked like a small irritation. I bathed it and put sudacrem on it and it just got worse. The vet put him on Prednisolone 5mg x 1 a day and Piriton but his skin was still pink and warm in places, not scratching but not clearing. Vet upped to 5mg Prednisolone twice a day but my boys character changed significantly with my other 3 so I stopped the Prednisolone and kept with the Piroton. We changed his food twice with no change. He's always dried off after a walk. All fabrics have been washed in non bio with no softener. I've stopped putting his collar on him. I'm now going to get bloods done. I thought maybe you all would have maybe come across something similar and advise. X

Not a medic but I would be asking for a skin scrape. If that shows nothing then ask the vet about allergy testing. We did it many years ago and it really helped to know the allergen(s). We could not avoid them all but could make a good attempt.

Dalmations do have a lot of skin issues .

Is Bronzing syndrome still considered or has it been dismissed as allergies?

Hope you get an answer soon

That looks like an allergy to me - I would be wanting allergy testing.

Thank you so much, yes you're right I'll get the bloods and scrape done instead of faffing about anymore.
