Hi All, so we want to get a dog but also uhm-ing about baby no3. If we do decide to have another baby. What would your suggestions be about when to get a dog/puppy?

When the baby has stared school.

I think the youngest child in the family should be at least four years old.

Probably not what you were hoping to hear.

When you've got time to toilet train it properly, take it for daily walks and basically look after it properly. And stop it from nipping young children/stop young children from treating a puppy like a toy. Not sure how you will manage that with a baby and 2 other children?

When your youngest is primary age, especially as you already have other children.

Puppies are chaotic, patience-testing little sharks. You really don't want to be raising one while you have a newborn or a toddler in the house.

Thanks all, makes sense. We are happy to wait, we rather wait until the right time rather than rush and impacting the whole family. Its an exciting time but it needs yo be well planned.

Thanks again!

We were going to wait until the youngest was 7 but in the end they were 14! Great age as they can help out with feeding and walking.

I wouldn't wait that long but I do agree about waiting until the youngest has settled into Primary School.
