Keeping chihuahua warm at night

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is a blanket that I can buy to put on top of my chihuahua bed that will keep him warm at night?

He has a bed off the floor, nice thick one. When he goes to bed I put 2 thick blankets folded into 4 over him and tuck him in.

It gets very cold in my very old drafty house, when I come down he looks cold.

I did buy one of those self heating mats from Amazon but he hated it because it makes a crinkle noise when he moves. Then I thought about having an electric one (which I am sure he would love), but are these safe? Worried about fire hazard and cost to run..

Can anyone help with any ideas to keep my fury shivering chi warm 🥶?

He is a strictly downstairs dog, used to let him upstairs but he snores and keeps me awake so I put an end to that! Worse than my dp and no joke.

He’s just turned 5, thanks ☺️

I bought an electric heating mat for my very elderly cat and had no trouble with it. As long as there is no chewing going on.

There is a heated disc you can but from Amazon. You put in microwave stays warm a few hours.

I was going to mention the heated disc. Also have you tried him in an enclosed bed, like a cat bed (like the dome/pyramid shaped ones)

Can you put a jumper on him ?
im no help as my 5 year old snoring chihuahua sleeps with us…

I found a heat pad in b&m for £5 which goes in the microwave and stays warm for ages which mine love! One of mine likes to sleep in a hooded cat bed which has blankets in that he burrows into as well!

Sleeping bag? Like a terrier tunnel?

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 14/01/2023 13:31

what about a fleece?

Workinghardeveryday · 14/01/2023 13:49

Thanks for the great ideas!

He will not wear a jumper, tried cat cove, he lies on the top of it😂.

I think I will have a look for the microwave heat pad thingy and give that a go
