Dog multiple poops

My dod is two and seems to struggle to settle as he frequently feels like he needs to poop. He does seem to poo about 5 times a day and they can be soft. He’s always been like this but it’s been more noticeable as we’ve stopped him toiletting in the garden/are taking him out to go. He aodd as i passes a lot of wind.

I’m wondering if a different food might help. Grain free possibly? Any advice would be useful. He does have doggy fibre added to his kibble as has had previous trouble with anal gldhdz.

Our dog was the same when he was younger, we changed to a higher quality food and he was fine. Grain free may help.

Thank you. Which food did you change to?

It sounds like an intolerance.

What's the main protein in his food at the moment? A lot of dogs are intolerant to chicken, for example, which is really common in dog food as it's cheap.

We used Ava from Pets at Home now, we changed to the food from the vets for a while and the problem resolved however it was really expensive so we just found one with similar ingredients. The website we used to check the higher quality ingredients is Allaboutdogfood I think. Its really helpful to compare them at a price that is suitable for you.

*we use Ava that should say

Thank you. Yes, chicken is what he’s on!

My dog is allergic to chicken. Its a pain but there is plenty of chicken free options.

I have a Shih Tzu who poos about 5 times a day ( not sure where he stores it all!)Does not seem in any distress though.

Thank you. Yes, chicken is what he’s on!

Definitely switch to a different protein! But check the ingredients as many foods still contain chicken even if it's not the main protein on the label.

We use canagan dog food and my dogs poo has always been by far the best on the field. I do use chicken as it’s the cheapest they charge more for different proteins.

Thank you all. I think I will have to try a new food. Just hard to know which to try! At the moment he is on autarky chicken

Our dog was like this when we got him. Often poos were soft too. Now he poops 1-2 times a day. Always firm and formed. No more wind either.
Definitely change his food but do it slowly. We use Millie's wolf heart. They do a large range and in small bags that you can try.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 11/01/2023 08:52

My dog was like this, I changed to this food and it's been a massive change. He now just does two solid poos a day.

My dog is sensitive to chicken and it made him very soft and frequent. He's now on a salmon and rice food and all is well (until he eats filth...).
