Dog suddenly came up with lesions all over her nose!

a few weeks ago my dog suddenly presented with a scabby spot on the bridge of her nose, within 2 days she had 4 of them, 2 on each side. Then her whole nose went bumpy and started scabbing. Vet gave us antibiotics.

It appeared to be clearing up but she’s been left with very obvious scabbing, hard bumps a ridge of hard skin going across the bridge of her nose. It’s not changing, it’s just stating like that now. It doesn’t appear to be bothering her.

Im worried it’s skin cancer! Any ideas?

I would have said Alabama rot but she’s still alive so it’s not that!

Yeah that was my worry when I initially rushed her into vets 😂 thank god it’s not that.

Mange was mentioned but it’s not that either. It’s not an allergy reaction so what on earth is it? It hasn’t cleared up, it hasn’t got worse … it’s just staying the same

I'm not a dog owner but when I read your post it immediately reminded me of one of my cats who had lesions all over his nose. It turned out to be the calicivirus. I've just googled this and dogs can pick this up in fields that have been contaminated by the virus due to cats.

Just another possibility to consider? Hope your dog improves soon.

Scabs and scars can take ages to heal in dogs - so if the vet hasn't mentioned cancer I would try not to worry.

What tests have the vet done?

I would be wanting a biopsy at this point

Look at her feet and all over her body to check if it is in other places

I would want to rule out a lot of things including auto immune diseases.

Antibiotics seems to be the first call for skin issues so do go back and ask for more tests as it has not cleared up
