How do you know it's time?

My boy has been unwell for some time, and has been slowly declining.

We've made the decision to let him go, and the vet is coming to us next week, as we want him to be at home.

The trouble is, now I've made all those arrangements, it's like he has perked up, and I'm second guessing myself. What if he is lively on the day? I just love him so much, I don't know what to do.

How did you know it was time?

We lost him today.

My heart is broken.

Awwwww, so sorry, it's the absolute pits.

You know when the right time comes round. We were going to the vets when it was time for our last dog but actually in the end she died at home as we couldn’t move her (large dog).

Being at home was by far the best place on reflection. We gave her some Marks and Spencer Parma ham as her last meal and put her favourite toy in the casket the vets brought with them.

No regrets.

So sorry for your loss. I went through the same with my boy and we are still devastated 6 weeks after losing him. However as much as we miss him we all agree that it was his time and the last week was as good as we could make it and he passed peacefully at home rather than an emergency trip to the vets. It’s hard, they leave such a hole but it will get a little easier.
