How to treat my dog’s paw (pics included)?

The paw pads on one of his front legs appear to be swollen.
Has anyone had this before? If so, how did you treat it?
Picture attached about his swollen paw vs his ‘normal’ paw.

My dog had a similar looking swelling on the side of his pad, and the vet prescribed antibiotics and gentle washing. It’s fine now.
Is it hard or does it feel cyst like? He may have a bit of gravel or seed or some such , stuck, which is causing it,
I would see a vet, personally, especially if he has pain.

You need to take him to a vet.

It could be an infection, he could have something in it, it might be an abscess...

Thank you.
It doesn’t appear to be painful (he’s not licking it or crying when I was touching it), but was reluctant on our walk today.
I’ll ring the vet tomorrow.

Have you checked it thoroughly for cuts, grazes and puncture wounds?

I would keep it clean for tonight and see the vet if it's not improving by morning - a good wash in some Hibiscrub won't do any harm and will get rid of any dirt or muck too.

Ours had similar recently, he needed antibiotics and pain relief from the vets plus we cut away as much hair as possible (he has hairy feet and can get a little matted in between the pads) kept it clean, used antiseptic gel stuff on it and a little boot when we went on walks. Had to put a few cotton wool pads under the paw then vet wrap in place before the boot to cushion it. He was lame on his but fine now. It took a while to clear up though but the boot helped keeping it clean and dry.

@stockpilingallthecheese did the vet say what could have caused it?

I honestly can't remember, but I think the muddy wet ground hasn't helped. He's been on house arrest for a different issue and his foot has really cleared up beautifully now.

It could be an inter digital cyst. My dog had one and the vet prescribed antibiotics and Loxicom. I think I also soaked it in Hibiscrub.
