What impact will only being walked every other day have?

Medium to large breed of dog that can only be walked every other day for 45m to an hour - would this be ok? If not what kind of impact could that have on the dog?

It would have free reign inside and into the garden throughout the day and would receive playtime of dog toys and ball etc inside sporadically through the day.

Someone would be home most of the time but not able to walk more, so not left alone much but not exercising as much as should.

Thoughts on whether or not to take dog on in this circumstance?

Golden retrievers need a lot of stimulation and exercise on a daily basis. PiL took on one at a similar age that was not exercised enough and she totally trashed the house- tore up the kitchen floor, chewed all the architraves on the doors, chewed every shoe she could get her chops round.

45 mins every other day would just not cut it.

There is a local dog (this is in East Anglia), looks like a Samoyd, that I'm pretty sure never goes for walks

I was one accused of never walking my dog by a neighbour in the same block of flats.

In reality, he was getting three walks a day - two short trips around the block and one 2-3 hour walk, mostly off lead.

She just wasn't curtain twitching at the right moments.

I think I’ve posted this somewhere before... but it’s worth retelling.

I remember once completely judging a neighbour for not walking her dog, me and another neighbour knew her well enough that we’d chat to her if we saw her and we knew she’d got a puppy and were really surprised that we’d never seen her walking it, tbh we were standing gossiping ☺️ We never said anything directly to her when we saw her or anything, but we were being not particularly nice... no defence other than we were genuinely surprised we’d never seen it being walked.

About a week later she invited us for a coffee... the puppy had been taken in as a rescue case because it had been born with some issues, including only having 2 and a half legs, one of her front legs was completely missing and the other finished at the elbow 🙈😂

We did tell her about our mistaken judgement, how we’d spent ages going, well she seems so nice though, never struck me as someone who wouldn’t walk her dog etc... we were mortified, she thought it was hilarious.

Totally served us right 🤣
