When do you put heating on...for dog??

Cost of living crisis obviously

We can waddle around in our fleece onesies until kingdom come but our lurcher has relatively low body fat and we're worried about him

The ambient temperature of our house is maybe 16/17 on a cold (4 degree) day like today but his sleeping room is north facing and one of the colder rooms

How are you keeping your dogs warm? Are you taking them into consideration in your decisions on heating? Is it something to worry about?? Do your dogs happily sleep in jumpers?

He is inept at pulling blankets over himself so we tuck him in at bedtime but it only lasts as long as he stays in one position

@sewinginmyfreetime mine is salukish too, and very footshy. However he loves his onesies so much he will lift his legs to go in and is ridiculously excited. Today is is a purple spotted affair with blue dinosaur spikes.
I make him coats as well, so we have been wearing the glow in the dark Star Wars halloween one, and in a couple of weeks it will be red snowflakes (we have a whole matching set for ddog2 and any foster pups) or his Santa Paws one for special occasions

I’m not even a dog person but I so want to see a photo of a dog wearing a purple spotted onesie with blue dinosaur spikes 🦕

We have a dinosaur onesie! Not the best photo but you can see the spikes better on this one!

I love that dino onesie!!

I don't think I'd give a dog a hot water bottle, but I used to use one of those microwaveable wheat heat thingies for DDog when she was a puppy.
(no need now as her fur is a terrier double coat, and doesn't need anything else)

Either that or give in and have them sleep with you

Aw bless his wee heart! I can’t decide if he’s shy or slightly embarrassed at his outfit 😂😂

Thanks for sharing @Patchyman1

@CMOTDibbler That sounds awesome! The ones I make are very basic in comparison 😁

I don’t have the heating on yet, but I don’t use a crate and my dogs temperature and comfort is one of the main reasons why.
If I watch my dogs through the day he will move from his bed and snuggled up, to the rug, to the kitchen tiled floor regularly through the day. The easiest way for a dog to regulate their body temperature is to change where they are sleeping. If you have a crate you are taking away that choice. The crate maybe covered and snug…but your dog might be feeling too warm!

We don’t use a crate personally but most people when they’re at home with their dog aren’t shutting them inside their crates, the dog will have free choice to move around the house.
