Recommend me a collar

I need a collar that will look nice, sturdy, can cope with off leads tramping through bushes and swamps and god know what else. We don't use it for a lead because we use a different harness for that. It needs to hold air tag, collar tag and gps tracker.

It occurred to me earlier that I've never changed her collar from when she was a puppy because she just didn't grow out of it 🤦‍♀️

These are lovely. I have bought a few over the years and they last well and also wash well.

Petiquette collars are lovely , our dog has a couple of their house collars and they are beautifully made .

Pear Tannery on Etsy do fabulous leather collars, loads of colours and great prices.

Burnamer · 04/11/2022 23:31

Out of interest why do you have an AirTag as well as a gps tracker?

borderterrierr · 04/11/2022 23:32

@Burnamer because she's a shit and one or the other seems to fall off when she's off lead! 🤦‍♀️

🤣 if you have to change the gps unit at any point, check out Tractive. I’ve found them sturdy and they will send out replacement units / fixtures when needed.
also - surely you have to post a picture of your dog?

I have used Ancol rolled leather ones for over thirty years. Sturdy, unobtrusive and last for years, especially if I remember to use leather balm occasionally.

Biothane collars for my dogs as we walk a lot on muddy moors with rivers and bogs to jump into Smile

Just wipe them over with a cloth if/when they get muddy - last for ever and come in many colours. can get buckles or clip fastenings so can slide things onto the collar easily.

@Burnamer after our most recent walk. She escaped the harness and I had to use an emergency slip lead, im so tempted to ditch the harness and just the slip! She's so small!

I use an indi dog Houdini harness on my terrier , it’s impossible to get out of it .

I use flexitags, flexicollars are wipable, adjustable & you can have the tag on it already engraved & non dangly, which with a hedge surfing spaniel I appreciate! They are also really easy to message & talk to regarding sizing. (Don't work for them- just really impressed with our one!)

Shes adorable OP!!!

Cleoforever · 17/04/2023 06:02

Op what gps tracker do you recommend? I’m looking for one but bamboozled!

Our Border terrier is an adventure buddy and we have collars from Cornish Dog Wear on Ebay. Her Harris tweed one is lovely. Washes well and wears well.
