Dog calming tablets or treats for fireworks ?

Hi all,

We are lucky that our dog is only averagely disturbed by fireworks.

He gets very agitated when they are loud, and it takes him a while to calm down once they've stopped. It doesn't last more than the evening though, which is fortunate.

We do the usual curtains closed, Magic FM music on when we know to expect them. It's the surprise ones that cause most of the issues.

Does anyone have any recommendation for calming tablets / biscuits / treats that work well?

Oh bless him
I give my boy a lickimat with his favourite thing on -peanut butter. I can't stand fireworks, and they're getting bloody louder every damn year

Thank you both.

I've ordered the Aptimil plug in @KimMG , definitely worth a try.

I also saw a thread another poster had put up, where some drops/tablets were recommended so I will try those too.

Poor little dogs, such a stressful time for them.

Dorwest Skullcap and Valerian tablets, or Valerian Tincture (you can use both, by topping up with the tincture if they start to get really stressed). My boy is very sound sensitive, but hasn’t turned a hair at the fireworks we’ve had locally so far and we haven’t needed the tincture. We do have two big school displays very near our house though, so have bought some just in case.

For future reference, it’s best to start them early if you can. I started the pills at the beginning of October and it seems to have done the trick.
