Fleas - talk me down!

We have the Itch subscription for our dog, which comes each month. It landed in Tuesdays post, and we had been away over the weekend staying in a cottage on a farm. Anyway, yea tester he was quite scratchy and I found an adult flea on him. I applied his medication straightaway, but I have got myself into a state about the house! Everything made of fabric is currently being washed, and I have thoroughly hoovered and sprayed everywhere - is there anything else I need to do? I popped him into the bath and combed him, but i don’t think anything else came off, just bits he picked up on his travels.

What have you sprayed with? Indorex is the only thing I'd use to spray funishings for fleas.

Not sure on that Itch subscription but I personally think OTC drugs are sueless and would only go with prescription drugs from the vet. Not sure what Itch send?

Either way, most products work on specific flea life stages, so expect it to take a few weeks to slowly kill all fleas (if you have more) as they all grow and reach the right lifestages to be killed. You can speed this up a bit by keeping the house warm, hoovering daily (right up to the edges of the floors) and emptying the hoover contents straight into an outside bin.

Bathing the dog makes no differece: the little buggers know to hide from the water in skin folds, orifces etc.

Thanks @HauntedCabinet
Itch has fipronil and s-methoprene. Never had any issues before so I’m thinking he brought them back from the weekend away! I got the Indorex from a certain pet store chain…. He seems back to himself today, mainly as I picked him up a large new chew to distract him from itching! Just me on a wild cleaning spree now🙈

Hi @JustCheckingItsFree Thanks for posting. I just wanted to pop in and share the link to our guide to the best flea treatment for dogs. It was created with the help of recommendations from dog-loving Mumsnet users and consumer reviews, so I hope you find it useful.
