Smelly dog help

Love my dog dearly. She's 7, mixed breed and she smells within a few days of being showered.
Any tips to help with the smell ones? I'm having to wash her weekly...and even then she smells for a couple of days beforehand.

I know you say mixed breed but does she have a long coat? Is it possible she has become incontinent? Anal glands? We have a 12 yr old collie who was v smelly. Vet could find no obvious cause and thought it was her coat. We took her to groomers and the blew her dead coat out and she smells so much better now (3 weeks on and still smells good!)

I would take her for a vet check up to be sure there is nothing else going on.

Weekly washing doesn't sound right. I'd check out anything medical first.

Diet? Maybe there's something you're giving him that doesn't agree with him? Also make sure he has enough exercise. In the case of my dog, him not smelling seems to depend on him getting lots of exercise.

Sorry, I meant she, not he. And yes, baths/showers shouldn't be necessary unless to wash off mud.

I'm not an advocate of bathing dogs weekly. Dogs have natural oils etc you can offset the balance and cause an issue. Get your dog health checked and look at the food you feed them. Make sure the dog is exercised and brushed regular too.

Mixed breed with what breeds? Some are stinkier than others!

You need to work through a checklist really to eliminate possible causes. All the things PPs have suggested plus are you washing his bedding? He could be picking up the smell again from there.
I also second the suggestion of v regular groomer visits rather than you bathing him, for a proper deshed and clean. Find a good one and they’ll pick up on things like skin conditions.
