Dog friendly places (shops/café/pubs etc.)

Hi Everyone!

Since getting a dog 18 months ago I’ve realised that a lot of places are really dog friendly but just don’t ‘shout about it’, so I thought it would be really nice to have a thread collecting all our experience and knowledge of where we can take our fluffy friends!

So to kick off the list:

Fatface
every outdoors shop I’ve come across
Tefal outlet store (Junction 32.. actually most shops at junction 32 but Tefal surprised me!)
cafe Nero
Yorkshire sculpture park (but on lead and they have sheep!)

Cafe Nero aren't universally dog friendly

Mine comes to Blowdry bar with me

I'm in the Lake District, pretty much everywhere is dog-friendly - but, off the top of my head:

Fat Face
Joules
Rohan
Waterstones.
Trespass.
Any other "outdoor clothing" shop except Blacks.
Pet shops and equestrian stores.
Most small, independent shops.

Plus, almost every single pub, café and restaurant, even if it's outdoors/bar only.

John Lewis

Playdoughcaterpillar · 18/10/2022 16:22

Leon. They even gave my dog a free pot of chicken!

Playdoughcaterpillar · 18/10/2022 16:23

Oh and most of the shops at M1 J28 outlet store including superdry!

AuntieStella · 18/10/2022 16:26

Runners Need - have dogs along to their free run nights and seem to let them in at other times. They're a partner company to Snow and Rock and Cotswold Outdoor (if there are any of them left) so I suspect they'd all let dogs in.

Garden centres usually do

tizwozliz · 18/10/2022 16:26

Most Wilkos outside of ones in shopping centres. Pup expects everyone stood behind a till to hand out biscuits as they do in pet shops though so she's always disappointed. She does her best sit and everything and still no biscuits appear!

I used to work in a clothing shop that was dog-friendly and always made sure we had a supply of biscuits behind the till Grin

The CAMRA Good Beer Guide has a little paw symbol for pubs that are dog friendly.

gogohmm · 18/10/2022 16:32

All the charity shops in my town are dog friendly but we do get tourists

Olddognewtrick · 18/10/2022 17:53

Lush. (Can you imagine the smell overload!)

The Oracle shopping centre in Reading and a lot of the shops in there.

Recently holidayed in the Peak District and it was dog heaven.

ZittiEBuoni · 18/10/2022 17:54

The 'Lounge' chain of restaurant/cafe/bars is always full of dogs being given free biscuits and water whenever I go in there.

TheMidnightLibrary · 18/10/2022 18:21

Dog Friendly .co.uk

AgathaX · 18/10/2022 18:29

We've never really had any problems taking our dogs into pubs, cafes or outdoor type shops. We've recently been to south Wales though and found them to be not very dog friendly at all.

TotteringByGenteeley · 18/10/2022 18:41

John Lewis is dog friendly too.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/10/2022 18:48

J32 of what?Confused

Various non NT gardens. Arley Hall in Cheshire was our old dog's absolutely favourite place, Holker Hall in cumbria also became dog-friendly a couple of years ago. I'm sure there are lots more.

Bairnsmum05 · 18/10/2022 18:56

Glasgow here, most cafes, bars, pubs in the southside allow dogs.

NoSquirrels · 18/10/2022 18:58

All Waterstones, and pretty much every independent bookshop I’ve ever known.

Aria20 · 18/10/2022 19:26

Ashford designer outlet in Kent allows dogs in most of the shops and some restaurants and cafes. They are not allowed in the Clarks, haribo shop or pizza express.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/10/2022 19:37

Canal/Norfolk broads boating holidays.

Sweetleftfood · 19/10/2022 10:40

Brilliant, we are in London . In my part of London, most pubs are dog friendly, never tried to take him to a cafe but local shops if I ask nicely will let him in (obvs don't want to tie him outside) Tube and buses are fine too

Sweetleftfood · 19/10/2022 10:41

Oh and when we went on holiday and stopped at Cheshire Oaks, the Vans shop asked if we wanted to take him in

HighlandPony · 19/10/2022 10:45

Inverness is the absolute worst for dogs. If you’ve got dogs and kids together then one has to get left in the car

demokitty · 19/10/2022 11:01

Small chain of restaurants in London called Megan's, allow dogs inside.
