Dog with ACL - suddenly recovered?

My poor terrier hurt her back leg and was holding it up all the time - she clearly injured it badly. We think she slipped on a wet floor when we were out .

I palpated her leg all the way up and she didn’t react and I couldn’t feel any swelling.

I took her to the vet that day who gave her painkillers etc and three days later she was able to weight bear now and again.

Vet thought she may have injured ACL. We have an X-ray booked for next week.

Three days on from that she seems to have recovered suddenly and is trotting about tail wagging etc. I am still trying to make her rest but she seems back to normal. I am wondering if she had just sprained her leg? Am finding it quite hard to keep her from trotting around and really don’t want to cause any harm.

if she had ruptured her ACL - is it likely she would be ok by now? (6 days later)

or does this found like it might have been a sprain after all?

Should probably add that she wouldn’t let the vet check her out properly so they said they couldn’t be sure really.

but the vet thought she should be better than she was three days in and that’s why they wanted to X-ray.

I'm not a veterinary professional but from experience I would say it's unlikely to be a ruptured cruciate ligament if she is behaving like this. If she is weight-hearing and trotting around happily, it sounds more like a strain or sprain or bruising.

It won't be her cruciate if she can run around like normal now.

Mine once sprained a toe and hopped about for ages before recovering!

Ahh brilliant

shes 10 now and I don’t want her to start developing chronic health problems and I don’t want her knowledge out for an X-ray either

I just spent a few minutes bending and flexing and pressing every part of her leg and afterwards she rolled onto her back for cuddles so I works safely day it’s definitely not bothering her now
