What to buy dear friend getting a dog

A very dear friend is getting her first dog, she has been planning for this for years and it's finally coming to her at the weekend.
She has been wonderfully generous with her time and money for me and my family so I would like to do something special for her and get something for her/dog but I am not a dog person and have no idea what to get!
Any ideas?

What about a beautiful braided leather torque from Doggy Boho - for Christmas and parties? Or a drying coat for when s/he is fully grown?

DarkMatternix · 13/10/2022 15:01

Is she getting a puppy or an older dog?

Daisypod · 13/10/2022 16:37

Pretty sure it's almost fully grown, definitely not a puppy. Shows how much I know about dogs 😂. Thank you some lovely ideas there

How about a gift voucher for Pets at Home?

I hope your friend will be very happy with her new dog. I'm sure anything you get her will be very greatly appreciated.

Best wishes to you. x

A nice big dog bed as you can never have too many!

In the past I have gifted friends (new puppy parents) a bottle of wine/gin/insert alcoholic beverage here and a few toys for the puppy/dog. If you don't know much about dogs a voucher for pets corner/pets at home would be good.
I also love the idea of a personalised ceramic water bowl.

I wouldn't get anything specific for the dog as they're all different in terms of what they like and are interested in.

I agree with a voucher for a pet shop, or maybe offer to pay for the dog to have a pamper and groom once it's settled in?

You’re a lovely friend! I have a dog and this is such a nice thoughtful gesture. Dogs have different tastes believe it or not - some love toys while others are all about food, and some just love being cosy and sleeping. A voucher for pets at home is a great idea, or a personalised bowl, a nice dog bed or maybe a personalised blanket with the dog’s name embroidered? You may even be able to get a cheap blanket (as it probably will get hairy and slobbered on) and get an independent artist to embroider it for you. If you know the size of the dog, a sweater or nice coat could be fun - unless it’s a husky or something very hairy that likes the cold many dogs appreciate an extra layer in rain and winter, chihuahuas and greyhounds especially. Hope that helps!

I would go with a voucher.

Carpet stain remover,

Hair scraper gadget for shedding dog hair on furniture,

One of those red dong things you put treats inside and the dog has to work to get it out.

A hamper box from JR Pet Products

I was thinking along them lines too.
Or how about doggy first aid kit

The red dong = Kong,

Lovely idea! I'd go with a nice big personalised water bowl too.
