Just seen a really concerning advert which a friend forwarded to me on Pets4homes - a man is giving away two female dachsunds and their four day old puppies. I think eight dogs in total? No other info except that the dogs are unfriendly. Those poor dogs. Should I contact him to tell him to take them to a rescue? He isn't asking for money.

Report the advert, it could be some clever scam, could be someone offloading "hot" dogs , could be genuine. It's a tough market for sales at the moment especially fighting against unlicensed and unregistered breeders. Just be careful.

And be wary of rescues. Our local friendly rescue breeds from rescued bitches and sells the pups with a sob story, and sells rescued pups too. Nasty business.

Oh yeah, I can't have a dog at the moment for many reasons so it wouldn't be for me to take them - just think at four days old (if it's a genuine ad!) they should go to someone who has a clue what they are doing!

Hadn't even occured to me it would be a scam! No money being asked for and difficult, unfriendly dogs - amazing what people will do. I'll ignore!

I went back to the ad and he'd taken the puppies off it - presumably someone had given him a heads up that you couldn't advertise pups that young - and it was only the two mum dogs advertised. Either way the ad has come down now. Hoping the dogs are entirely fictional!
