Puppy essentials?

We're collecting our puppy next week and starting to get things together that we need.

So far i've got...

Food & water bowls
A nice soft fleecy bed
A crate/cage
Poo bags (I know she can't go out for a while)
Had a quote for insurance

What else do we need?

Also what's the best way of travelling in the car (it's a 2 hour journey)? I've seen dog booster seats for the car, wondering if they're recommended?

Gin

Enzyme cleaning spray

Dog tag

Make arrangements for puppy classes (ask at vets or a grooming parlour for who's good local to you)

Car - depends on size of dog. Mine's little, so we use a travelling crate sold for cats (as she's within the safe weight limit) - she's happy in it and can stretch out, and interact with a backseat passenger if there is one. We also have a harness (bought from the RAC) that attaches her properly to a seat belt which we use when there's no space for the crate. You don't need a booster to get a secure fit, and DDog isn't interested in the view.

Bigger dogs then you need crate in boot, or bars to separate boot from back seat (you need estate or hatchback for this optio

Also training treats

possibly a dog-walking bumbag which you can keep stocked with treats and poo bags. Also maybe a doggy drinking bottle (that can probably wait until the summer now though)

But as it's autumn, consider an LED collar or tag for use if walkies are in the dark (esp once you can let puppy off lead and dusk falls - it's surprising how quickly they can vanish in gloom!)

If you're planning on clicker/whistle training you'll need them from the off

Doggy toothbrush and liver flavoured toothpaste - yum!

Dog shampoo for when the roll in Something Unspeakable

Suitable brush, and claw clippers (if you're brave!)

Thank you, she's a miniature schnauzer so I believe classed as a small dog.

All noted thank you @wetotter

It's been 15 years since I last had a dog and I was living at home so DF dealt with a lot of it, I just did the fun stuff!
