Bichon Frise Next Door Barks all the time

Booklover3 · 23/09/2022 08:38

Just as the title states.

My neighbour has a Bichon Frise dog next door. When they leave it barks continuously till they come home. Thankfully it’s not left alone everyday but maybe a couple
of times a week for 4 hours. It wakes me up. I know 7 isn’t early but when I can have a lay in it’s quite frustrating not to be able to. Can’t cope as I don’t sleep well anyway. I also have a dog but she isn’t a barker at all.

we are actually going to move and although it’s not to do with this I won’t miss it!

Just having a moan. Im
very tired today. I feel sorry for the dog. I feel sorry for the neighbours. I do feel a bit sorry for me 😭

Ours has a beagle. Left outside.

arooooooo
arooooooooooo
ooooo oooooo ooooooo!

that and the small kids screaming and yelling and throwing things around outside from 6:30 all days of the week, and the guy who jumps into his car before 5am and revs his engine got about 5 mins most mornings.

im amazed I don’t have an eye twitch.

I feel your pain!

My house is on the market, my neighbours dogs bark all the time. Really worried it will put off buyers 😩. They have 2 and whilst they aren’t loud they are continuous.

oakleaffy · 23/09/2022 08:48

These small dogs have very yappy tendencies.
Grim.
We were at a cafe the other day where a schnauzer yapped so shrilly it physically hurt the ears of customers.
A person I know of in Australia had her Bichon poisoned bt a neighbour for shrill repetitive barking-
They used to leave the barker outside a lot to yap yap yap yap yap
Dogs have been killed over here by neighbours for barking, one reason I specifically go for quiet dogs.
People can be driven insane by it to the point of acting dangerously to a dog.
At least you are moving!

mountainsunsets · 23/09/2022 09:17

Unfortunately Bichons are known for being incredibly yappy - as a companion breed they're also prone to separation anxiety so it's a bit of a double whammy!

practicepracticepractice · 23/09/2022 09:22

Shih Tzu next door is really yappy. Even when the humans are in.
Drives me mad.

summergone · 23/09/2022 09:29

I can't stand yappy dogs , I can hear one a few times a week in the early hours and it barks every 10 seconds for hours and I lie there thinking ' why the hell is that dog even outside !' Drives me mad , my dog just barks at night when she goes out for a wee she barks at each fence to warn burglars off 😀

AmandaHoldensLips · 23/09/2022 09:40

What is it about dog owners that makes them think they're entitled to ruin their neighbour's lives? I've had years of it and it's enough to drive you demented. The latest culprit clearly has separation anxiety and barks incessantly when its owner is out.

Beetlewings · 23/09/2022 09:43

It's even more annoying when your own dog isn't a barker! No chance for retribution

Booklover3 · 23/09/2022 10:44

It’s finally fallen asleep! Or barked itself horse. Not sure which. I’m sorry so many of us are in the same situation!

Our neighbours had 4 kids-blended family-and had one between them-so that’s 5 kids, screaming all day long-we can’t use our garden due to the screaming

the adults wind them up-so more noise

the adults then get pissed-more yelling at each other

they then bought a dog-which yaps every time they went out, played with it or shut it in the garden

they then broke up-she moved out, leaving dog with him

his answer to all this?

get a new girlfriend within the week, who has
her own, even more barky dog and they leave both in the garden all day while they are at work

we don’t own a dog,but we do dog sit about 3 times a year for friends dogs-one doesn’t really bark, another ignores them and the other just wants a sniff of them

theirs go mental-they’ve tried to scale the fence a few times to get into our garden

them the kids wind theirs up so they bark even more-the adults wetly tell the dogs to shut up,but the dogs ignore them so they give up

ive never wished Ill on anyone but I do them

Whatalife88 · 24/09/2022 16:44

Why are they so yappy these dogs? I really want to a shih tzu or bichon in the near future but this puts me off

SarahSissions · 24/09/2022 20:31

@Whatalife88 You tend to find a lot of owners of little dogs don’t train good manners.if there’s a problem they rely on just picking them up or see it as they are little and “cute” so they can’t do any real harm.
if a little dog owner invests a proper amount of time in training they are usually alright- it’s just many don’t bother.

Bichons are bred as companions and therefore they dislike being left for any length of time. When they're liable to be vocal as that's how they show their unhappiness/distress.

Shih-tzus were also bred as companions/lapdogs and dislike being left, but they also seem to think they're watch dogs and will bark at passers by a fair bit.

A lot of it can be solved with training but ultimately some breeds are more prone to barking than others.

My friend had a similar worry she just played music in the background with all the viewings it seemed to work 🤦🏻‍♀️

Problem is if you report it I think you are obliged to declare it if you sell

I’ve had two Bichons neither of which have been yappy in the slightest! Yes they’d bark if someone rang the doorbell. But I’d always brought them up not to bark for no reason. It sounds like this Bichon is actually suffering from separation anxiety by being left out in the garden, so it’s an owner issue not the poor little Bichon 😢

J0y · 24/09/2022 21:28

All of my sympathies. I have been waiting 9 years for neighbour's dog to die. The back door being opened and slammed shut ten times a night is worse than the barking though. They let the dog out when it barks and then I hear it louder 😑

vjg13 · 24/09/2022 21:59

I feel everyone's pain. We live next door to a barker too. I know that when he dies he will be replaced by his barking equal so there will be no respite.

Titsywoo · 24/09/2022 22:08

We have 3 next door (2 yorkies and a shihtzu) who barks loads - such an annoying noise. At the moment they are away and a family member is staying with her teeny yappy dog so now there are 4 of them. All the owners do is shout 'shut up' which they never do so it is just extra noise. I hate those bastard dogs. We all have dogs on this street but the others rarely bark.

J0y · 24/09/2022 22:09

@vjg13 when my neighbour's dog finally dies, how long can I leave it before begging them not to get another dog. I'll respect their grief but not risk leaving it so long that they get a puppy to take their minds off the death of King Yapper the first

vjg13 · 24/09/2022 22:15

@J0y I don't think you can! Just enjoy the silence before mark 2 arrives.

My neighbours find the barking of their dog in some way adorable as will sit with him whilst he's barking with no attempt to stop him!

bunnygeek · 26/09/2022 10:58

My neighbours have a pandemic pup Maltichon (Maltese x Bichon, such a pointless cross!) he is VERY YAPPY and we have thin walls, for a small dog he's so loud. If he barks at their door and we're asleep in bed, he might as well be barking in our bedroom it's so loud.

Unfortunately can't say anything too rude as we get on really well with our neighbours otherwise!

SIGH.

J0y · 26/09/2022 21:25

Why do people think having a dog in a small house with thin walls is ok?
My neighbors are the middle house in a terrace of five and our row backs on to another row of 5 small houses. So when their dog barks, that's 9 other households in earshot of their dog. It's so thoughtless and selfish imo. They are pensioners but other people need a night's sleep and have to get up for work. I want to scream at them when they smile at me "hello!!!". I know they think I'm a bit unenthusiastic about our neighbourly relationship.
