Not really getting over it ,he was 14
vet said it was time
it was awful ,vet came to the house day after queen’s funeral
house is empty now
didn’t think it would be this painful
he had liver cancer ,cushings, pancreatitis,a cancerous lump and possible tumour on his spine effecting his legs slightly.
we only had him 2 years ,sort of acquired him ,.
he was I’ll when we got him with cancerous lump cushings and pancreitus
we were constantly at the vets ,but he was such an amazing boy we didn’t mind.
we only agreed to put him to sleep as the vet couldn’t assure us he wasn’t in pain.
just that really

So sorry 😢 Flowers

Sounds like you looked after him so well for his final years.

Ive adopted an old dog with illnesses, and it doesn’t make it any easier when you have to make that decision. It sounds like he’s had a wonderful time with you, and you acted in his best interests when he needed you to.

As awful as it feels now, you will come to terms with it and will be able to enjoy the happy memories you have from his time with you.

Thank you for helping out an older boy. They have so much love to give ❤️

Thankyou ,I tried ,I always checked with the vet that he wasn’t in pain ,but vet always said he was having a good quality of life
then the last lot of blood tests showed possible liver cancer ,and vet said it was time .
we have 2 other dogs ,last night I forgot and made 3 dogs dinners .
the other 2 seem quiet ,they went for a walk without him ,came home and he was gone

I feel selfish, feeling this upset ,when people have lost relatives..I’ve really hidden how I’m feeling ,I’m dreading someone saying he was just a dog ,and they lost an actual person

Bless you - what a wonderful thing you did taking on an old dog with so many illnesses. It's devastating to lose a dog and IMHO the pain is the same as if I had lost a human. However, whenever I've lost a dog I take solace in the fact my dogs have lived happy lives and the pain I feel is the price for the unconditional love we had. Then I'll fill the hole once again as it's such a waste of a good home which I can't stand without a canine companion in it. Sending hugs 🤗

Thankyou for the kind messages on my thread .
He was very happy with us ,I only wish we had him longer ,got him sooner ,his old owner had left his ailments untreated ,he came to us needing two operations almost straight away ,one to remove 9 teeth and another to remove a cancerous lump ,that grew back.
