So I collect my lovely puppy in three weeks time and I've over-researched instance to point where I've confused myself.

Can I ask you experts what type of policy is the most "norm"? I'm struggling to fathom this from all the ones that have you covered or literally every eventuality

And if you want a stab at a name, feel free!

You need lifetime cover, whoever you choose. I'm with Direct Line.

Cute puppy.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 27/08/2022 11:53

Absolutely, if nothing else you need lifetime cover.

bilbodog · 27/08/2022 12:06

Pet plan are often recommended

Trulyweird1 · 27/08/2022 12:08

Lifetime cover; Petplan are easy for vets to deal with directly so you have little work to do.
Avoid John Lewis - very expensive and they will drop you like a stone when you need them most.

Trulyweird1 · 27/08/2022 12:08

Puppy is gorgeous 😍

Gonewiththewindbeforelong · 27/08/2022 12:09

Gorgeous puppy, love cocker spaniels! Used the AA pet before and they were good

MonsterMunchLady · 27/08/2022 12:11

Puppy is beautiful!!! ❤️

Please get lifetime cover, whoever you go for. We use PetPlan, they're very user friendly.

ItsSnowJokes · 27/08/2022 12:12

He's so cute. He looks like a Herbert.

Gonewiththewindbeforelong · 27/08/2022 12:18

I like Ralph for a boy, or Rufus

kingsleysbootlicker · 27/08/2022 12:18

Petplan is generally the one that vets prefer to deal with, but can be pricy. If you want to go with someone else, check with your vet first that they're happy for that company to pay for large payments directly, rather than you having to pay and then claim it back

He/she looks like a Harold or a Shiela 😁Very cute ❤

SammyScrounge · 27/08/2022 12:24

Charlie. He's a very cute little dog. No

As others have said life time cover for as much as you can afford.

People often make the mistake of thinking you can shop around each year like other insurance but anything you have been to the vets for even with no diagnosis or claims has to be declared if you swop and can lead to lots of exclusions.

Read all the T&Cs. Some policies don't cover teeth. I am with petplan and my policy does as long as my vet has checked them yearly and they have paid out for a scale and polish type treatment when the vet recommended it but we do get them checked every 6 months as I am part of a vet care package.

Thank you / this has helped enormously already!

I should have said - she's a girl! Top of the list at the moment is Betty or Heidi but there's something drawing me to Sheila.....!!

She is gorgeous , looks like a Louella to me . Our dog has life cover with Direct Line which is fine I’ve not had any issues with them . My son has Petplan lifetime super dooper expensive policy for his Siamese and they pay you back really quickly .

Riverlee · 01/09/2022 05:06

Does any one know what LV are like? I got/a reasonable online quote from them. A lot cheaper than petplan.

PuddinAforeDinner · 01/09/2022 11:06

Gorgeous puppy. We have always used Petplan, lifetime cover and have never had a problem with a claim.
On the name front, I throw Mila or Winnie into the hat 🙂
