Snuggle puppy

New pup is arriving in a week... The excitement is intense! I have everything sorted and all the essentials bought. I've only just heard about Snuggle Puppies though and wondered if this was:
A) an essential

B) just another cute expense

Any advice welcomed (not just about Snuggle Puppy, will take all gems of wisdom going)

Not essential. Some puppies do find it comforting other puppies are totally happy without it.

I would not but one intially and see how yours settles in.

Using a blanket that smells of their Mum helps. The snuggle puppy has a really loud heart beat that if the puppy is sleeping near you can be annoying for you!

not buy one!

I bought one and returned it as I was concerned puppy would chew it and get the plastic heart out - was glad as she did turn out to be a chewer for a few weeks! A donut bed was the best purchase as she could snuggle in along with a blanket that had been with the litter so smelt of mum and siblings.

I wouldn’t bother tbh

My puppy was not interested in it one bit. His favourite toy to cuddle up to is just a normal teddy bear that is particularly soft and not even a dog toy.

I was keen to try one this time around, as so many people seem to recommend them, but I found the heartbeat sounded really loud and harsh, in fact I wrapped it in several cloths before putting it inside and it still seemed too strong.

My boy is a terrier and his favourite activity with his is attempting to eviscerate it via the velcro strip on it’s stomach. To it’s credit though, the velcro has held up for 7 weeks now and he still hasn’t got in. (We took the heart out of it after the first time we gave it to him and he ignored it.)

I have one in my pups cage.
She doesn’t cry at night but I’m unsure if the snuggle pup had anything to do with it as my partner forgot to put it in the other night and she wasn’t any different.

The heartbeat is fairly loud although that doesn’t bother me as her crate is downstairs and I can’t hear it from my bedroom.

Never even heard of it. Had my pup for 11 days now and she is fine, sleeps really well. Loves her blanket the best as she screws it up into a nest in her bed. It’s not a special type of blanket, just one we bought from Pets at Home. I would save your money until you know if your puppy is perfectly fine without it or not
