Guess my breeds?

It would be great to have some thoughts on the breeds my rescue has in him. He is 18 months and weighs 10kg. He is very slim, with long legs and a pretty big head. Incredibly playful. He had a light trim at the rescue, so looks a little different between pics.

JRT and greyhound or whippet?

Lakeland terrier cross whippet.

I walk a Lakeland mix who has the exact same head/ear/face shape and fur type 😊

Some sort of terrier/ whippet combo. Or terrier / whippety lurcher for more variety.

Looks like a sweetheart anyway.

Ooh thanks! They said JRT x Spaniel, but I was thinking lurcher is in there somewhere.

We also have a JRT x Cocker Spaniel, and the two dogs are nothing alike physically.

Border terrier / yorkie / JRT mix maybe?

Wow, thanks all! Whippet is certainly a strong contender. I can confirm that he is a sweetie. Full-on, but adorable. He is trying to push boundaries a little, but is settling in with his two siblings (our original rescues).

I hope it's not bad form to say that there is a DNA test pending. I will happily update once the results are in.

No idea, but he is bloody gorgeous 😍

Apart from the colour (which could be a bit of JRT) he looks exactly like my friend’s Patterdale Whippet cross. And she’s my favourite 😍

Our other dog (3 dogs total) is a JRT x Yorkie (mostly), and again, nothing like this dog physically. I do see the possible Border Terrier in him too though!

Heinz 57 is probably the most accurate for all 3 of our babies 😁 .

You can do a dog DNA test pretty easy and accurate. Wisdom panel do them. Mine took 3 weeks. Mine is a crossbreed and definitely not what he was suppose to be. They do pick up lots of breeds and wolfdog which yours isn't.

Yes, that's the test that is pending. We have already tested our other two rescues.

Our girl was supposed to be JRT x Dachshund. She is quite long and was still a young puppy when we got her, but didn't look Dachshund.

About 20% is a good mix of terriers, but the vast majority is JRT x Yorkie with no Dachshund!

I don't see any poodle in him.

He has schnauzer-ish eyebrows, definitely some JRT in him though!

I would say setter in there. Body and facial expression looks very English Setter like.

I'd say predominantly Schnauzer x JRT.

Apart from the lack of whippet or schnauzer, the biggest surprise is that he is related to our other JRT x Cocker mix.

They are full brothers born 15 months apart!!

That is so interesting, especially since you mentioned they look nothing alike. I find genetics utterly fascinating!

Short, smooth coat. More muscular physique, larger chest, shorter legs, especially the front legs. The younger brother is taller but is very slim and weighs 2-3kg less.

The two boys are so playful and full of beans with almost relentless energy.

They were each given to the rescue as they were living in flats with no outdoor access and rarely walked. A very different life for them now!
