Do we buy a gift for our dogwalker?

DW and I are moving away from the area in a couple of months. We've been where we are for years and our dogwalker is incredible - she's really been our rock with our lovely girls especially when I had an accident and the girls needed walks every day for a good six months so that DW could focus on taking care of me and the house.

We absolutely love her and the girls adore her. We'd like to get her something as a thank you present, but would that be too strange?

If it's not strange, what is appropriate to give your dogwalker? Thank you!

I but mine presents at Xmas and after boarding as she looks after my dog really well and is very accommodating so no I don't think it's strange 😀

My greyhound buys his dog-walker a Christmas gift! I Facebook stalked to find out what she drinks.

mountainsunsets · 17/08/2022 14:41

Aww, that would be lovely.

One of my clients added my mum on Facebook to ask her what to get me for Christmas Grin

What's strange about showing appreciation for such excellent service? I think it's a lovely idea.

PritiPatelsMaker · 18/08/2022 07:23

I think it's a lovely idea. Has she got a DDog herself? Maybe something related to that breed?

AnotherMrsAverage · 18/08/2022 07:28

Not strange! Won’t be expected but will be appreciated. Maybe rose in a pot which will remind dog walker of your dog?

Sweetener12 · 18/08/2022 08:56

Nothing strange about it,OP, this would be really sweet of you to do! Do you know any of her interests or hobbies to get her something related? Maybe do a bit of SM stalking to get the idea, as others have suggested. Also, if she walks other dogs and is permitted to post the pictures, then you can make a custom desk calendar with photos of them all including your dog / just photos of your dog. Something universal, like a gift card or a self-care basket, would also do!

I'm a dog walker and often get gifts from clients at Christmas and other occasions- explosive diorreahea and vomiting or trips to the vets that I have helped out with etc so definitely not weird!

The gifts range from boxes of chocolates wine, shower gels, hats etc. What always touches me the most though is a card and a nice photo of the dog. A client wrote me such a lovely card when they had to have their elderly dog put to sleep. I still have it.

I think buying your dog walker, who has been really good, a goodbye present is a lovely idea. She will feel so appreciated. It could be connected with dogs..Maybe a funny dog mug so she remembers you whenever she has a cup of coffee but I think she would also love something not connected. Favourite scene/smellies. Something to do with any hobby she has. Maybe a lovely flowering plant in a pot for the garden which flowers every year. Anything that shows you know something about her life and hobbies would be good. Winter is coming so Cinema vouchers might be a good one for those cold days to come. People are cutting down on luxuries so they could be a real treat for her. Or vouchers for a lunch out maybe. Lovely idea to give her a treat before you go. 😃

I think it's a really nice idea.

I would go along the lines if something that would make her doggy walking more comfortable
Water proof spary for clothing / shoes
New treat bag ( with exta pockets for poo bags )
Doggy 1st aid kit
Bug repellent ( human and dog suitable)
Hand warmers
Battery powered heated gloves
Gloves that have that fancy fingertip that allows you to still use your phones touch screen
Foot masks ( tea tree ones are v nice )
and her fave drink to have when she gets home

Not weird at all always buy for ours and like you they have stepped in when been emergencies

One of the favourite gifts for both (they work as a team so always got cover etc). Was I named a star each after their dogs
Doubly precious as they both lost their elderly dogs recently so they live that cN look for their dogs star

One of y favourite they got me was they did a pawprint from my dog (he home boards with them as well ) and his name in scrabble letter
