My 9 month Labrador pup has pinched a cod fishcake off the kitchen worktop and has scoffed the lot.
I'm worried because it's raw fish
Has anyone any advice
Thank you

If it’s not vomited it back then there’s nothing to worry about.

If it is he'll eat the vomit.

Dogs are nasty.

My dog are raw fed and eat fish all the time.

ditto - mine had frozen herring as a treat during the hot spell. doggy lollipops 🤣

SummerSazz · 15/08/2022 22:33

Mine has raw salmon skin as a treat! Fish scales are good for cleaning their teeth albeit I presume not present in a fish cake Grin

Christ you're lucky !

In my family a lab has eaten :

Full packet of butter and foil

Terrys chocolate orange all packaging

Half a sticky toffee pudding pinched off the side and ruined Xmas dinner

A packet of cannabis , plastic bag included in a park

Dog still alive and well .... the cannabis did require vet attention but the rest was all resolved at home .

Dogs do eat crap from time to time so I wouldn't worry unless it was a rotten fishcake.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 16/08/2022 10:36

Frozen raw fish heads are my dog's favourite treat!

Fishypops.

Hobele · 16/08/2022 11:17

Dogs evolved from wolves, raw meat is more suited for them than the brown dry convenience food.

One of mine are half a cooling cauliflower cheese. I sort of squashed down the remains, added lots of grated cheese and breadcrumb topping, and bunged it in the oven anyway. Next time was a Devonshire squab pie (lamb and prunes) straight out the oven. I think he burned his mouth as he didn't do it again.

Your puppy will be fine.

My alaskan malamute pup ate a dead fish at the beach a couple of days ago, he was fine. I have him on a long line as he will eat anything that fits in his mouth. His poo is always interesting as we find out retrospectively what non food items he has eaten. Worst one was one of his poo bags containing poo, he pooed it out whole! We had no idea how he got it but then caught him the other day leaning over the gate (which is supposed to stop him getting to that section of the garden) lifting the lid off the poo bin and taking the bags out!

In all seriousness it does actually worry me, he's so tall no surface is sacred. We watch him so carefully but it just isn't humanly possible to have an eye on him every second of the day, he's so quick also!

There are many days I wonder why we didn't just stick at our little pug who can only just reach the sofa.

We have a cocker spaniel who ate the head of a deceased wood pigeon, vomited it back up, then ate it again Envy

aletterfromseneca · 22/08/2022 15:27

Their stomachs are made for raw meat. They will be fine

Sunflowers765 · 22/08/2022 15:44

Yep, Labrador so will be fine! Worse thing mine ever ate was a whole dead duck on the marshes. It came back up again 30 minutes later. Still whole. 🤮 A carrier bag - came out the other end . Still whole. And a used condom she found in a field . Labradors really are quite disgusting. But still the Best Dogs Ever 😀😀

Who cooks for dogs in the wild/on the street?

bloodywhitecat · 22/08/2022 15:53

Mine once sampled a dessicated hedgehog. Dogs are evil.

DiscoBadgers · 22/08/2022 15:54

🤣 You’ve not had a lab before, have you….?
