Dogs who love the beach

We have just come back from holiday with our 2 year old cocker spaniel. We went to visit my family who live on the south coast - due to work commitments/covid we have never been to the beach with him.

I honestly think if he could talk, he would tell you he had the best holiday ever! He loved the sand, he ran around like a lunatic on the beach and in and out of the waves. He couldn't understand that he wasn't supposed to drink the sea as he's used to larking around in fresh water rivers but he had such a good time and wore himself out so much, he took himself to bed every single night .

Does anyone else's dog love the beach? I can't wait to go back in the autumn/winter with him now even if it's just for a weekend!

OMG that sleepy face 🥰. We live a 10 min drive from the beach and our dog loves it so much too. As soon as he smells the sea, he’s off pulling towards it and always gets beach zoomies! His best day ever is if he also gets to see horses on the beach as he loves to watch them (from a distance I don’t want him getting under their feet). Here he is enjoying an unexpected foam party 😂.

Our Labrador adores the beach

So, we went to the beach. We had to give him a car break after 20mins but was OK after that. He slept the whole way home though. Was completely unfazed by the sea/sand/seagulls lol. It was very windy so he mostly chased the sea foam. We were able to let him off his lead too which was brilliant. So pleased he wasn't scared.

We’re lucky enough to live a 5 minute walk away from the beach and our chocolate Lab LOVES the beach!

It’s somewhere he can bound about off-lead and it’s a long way from the road, safety wise.
He’s a very sociable chap and loves a good play and roustabout with his poochy pals as well as running in the sea, ( haven’t mastered actual swimming yet) digging and snuffling around in the rockpools.
Unfortunately, he had double elbow Dysplasia surgery a month ago so we’re on lead walks only until late December. Really miss our beach walks.....
