New puppy question! How do I, um, clean his bum?

Cuddlypup arrived yesterday and is adorable of course (photo for proof!). However he had a very runny bum for the first 12-18 hours which I put down to nerves. Some poached chicken and cuddles and all is back to normal on that front.
However! He has got some dried poo around his bum/tail that I can't get off. I've tried giving him a bath and rubbing with a towel, I've tried combing it out but there are still a few dingleberries there 😳.
What should I do? Will he get a sore bum? Or infection? Or like worms?! I'm seeing the vet tomorrow (well the dog is, for his first jabs) so I'll definitely bombard him with questions but any good ideas from MN and I'm all ears!

Gorgeous pup! Touch wood not an issue we've had but have had all other kinds of stuff to clear off pup - I'd go for some doggy appropriate shampoo diluted in warm water soaked onto a strong kitchen roll towel (so you can bin it) to clean the area then same soaked to wipe/rinse to away? We use Fox Poo shampoo.

As above or another warm bath or you can snip them off

Warm bath, and protexin do some tablets you can add to food to settle upset tummies
amazon will get you them next day

What a gorgeous boy and I love his little cock shaped toy :D

Warm water and when you start getting him groomed ask they cut the hair there short. He will be fine.

He’s very cute but he does look quite accusatory in that photo. Whether about his newly acquired dingleberries, or his cock and balls rope toy, I can’t be sure.

I’d try cotton wool balls soaked in warm water held to the area and if no dice, gently combing with one of those wide toothed metal grooming combs; very gently and staying close to the ends of the fur, not next the skin.

He's so cute!

We've a labradoodle puppy and her hair is a nightmare for catching any drippers.

We've had a memorable 6am bath in the sink after a particularly loose poo.

We've been trimming the area and that's improved it immensely.

We had to cut a particularly stubborn piece of dried poo from our puppy's fur when we first got him. Now the little prince gets his arse wiped with fragrance free baby wipes after every shit.

I need that cock n balls toy 😂

Cuddliesrule · 26/07/2022 22:04

Lol I only realised it looked like a dick & balls after I took the photo 😁.
I do think I'll have to trim it, bleugh. As soon as he's ok to go to the groomers I'll tell them to give him a Brazilian down there 😁😁
I've ordered some of the tummy settling stuff off Amazon, thanks to PP who suggested that. Further photo cos why not!

Baby wipes after the event & keep the drop zone clipped short.
