Hey lovely people I was wondering if you guys could help/recommend me a multivitamin that contains zinc for a 15/18kg husky mix.

I've noticed my dogs paws have gone really rough like sandpaper I've been putting 'Mushers' for about 2 weeks and it's still very rough.

I have gone through Google searching for remedies for cracked paws etc and came across a condition of zinc deficiency in huskies being the main cause of cracked paws. so I thought I could get some multivitamins but there's a lot of multivitamins but not necessarily containing zinc.

if anyone else has had any luck or have suggestions please let me know.

I will also be taking to the vets this week and raising this as a concern I don't know if I'm being dramatic though.

thanks

I wouldn't give my dog any vitamins without speaking to the vet first. I'm not that knowledge about what dogs can/can't take vitamin wise so would speak with my vet first.

I'll be speaking with them tomorrow hopefully they can help

Some immune diseases show with issues to feet and damaged pads scaling, sores etc so do show your dog to the vet before you self prescribe.

I use Boréal Palatable Zinc Supplement For Dogs. It’s a powder you put on top of their food. My Malinois had hair loss and flaky skin, but now he looks great. A lady who does husky rescue recommended it to me.

You can feed your dog extra zinc which is found naturally in fish like sardines. However I would first check the dog food ingredients on your dog food. If your dogs paws are cracked where do you walk him.
My husky had rough pads that was normal.

I thought zinc was poisonous to dogs? Mine swallowed a zinc tablet and was taken into vet as an emergency- apparently there’s no safe dose. But willing to learn otherwise … 🤔

thank you everyone.

he doesn't get walked on rough terrain etc so it baffled me why it has become so rough and even the paw protectors weren't doing anything. So whilst I was going through Google I came across articles like this and I thought maybe there's a multivitamin he could take that's approved.

I've called the vets I will be taking him on Thursday for a consultation hopefully they can maybe run blood tests to see if he needs zinc.

in the meantime I've brought beef, chicken and lamb I will cook some meat for him to have along with his kibble
