Has anyone tried spinal injections

I'm just wondering if anyone had tried spinal injection for lower back issues in their dog (rather than surgery)

Our old boy has just come through one surgery unrelated to his spine and now suddenly has horrendous nerve pain which nsaids/gabapentin and now steroids aren't helping.

We are not prepared to put him through major spinal surgery at his age and have booked for his neurologist to give him an injection to see if it will help the pain. It's the lumbosacral junction. This is the last thing we can try before having to make the heartbreaking decision so I'd love to hear any stories.

Yup. It made no difference (sorry) but it wasn’t the least bit distressing so worth trying?

Thanks. The neurologist isn't that optimistic either but we have to try it as like you say it's not especially invasive and they are sedated for it. Sorry to hear it didn't work. I've just been crying all week as it's awful seeing them in pain

It’s miserable. It sounds like my girl’s issue is much less severe - she has a good quality of life with acupuncture, osteopathy, pain relief and lately librela, not so much for the spinal issue but for the arthritis caused by her abnormal gait.

I agree it’s worth trying. Unless they’re deeply traumatised by the vet it’s no big deal. Quick sedation, one injection. Fingers crossed for you.
