Hello!
Feeling very anxious about one of my bitches who is due in on Monday to have tlpo surgery on her right back knee. The forecast is 38 degree on the monday and same thing Tuesday. She snapped her ligament 4 weeks ago and we've been waiting ages for the surgery. I am just really worried in general about it but cause of the heatwave even more so as my bitch hates the heat. She's an American akita/rottweiler and she's never enjoyed warm weather comes to life in the cold. Dunno the point of this post other than looking for a vet to say she will be fine the heatwave isn't anything to worry about or advice to say maybe I should rearrange it she Will struggle. Thoughts welcome...please and thanks xxx

We monitor body temperature through out surgery and I. Recovery. With a longer surgery like TPLO heat loss during surgery is a bigger risk than the heat wave (even in the heat wave).

I have a dog going in for GA on Monday and spoke to my vet today and they said exactly the same as Lonekitten that it is almost the best day to have a GA due to temperature drop.

Poor things but at least we dont have to worry about the heat.
