Can't find anyone to look after my dog

Our dog usually boards with his dog walker but due to unforseen circumstances he cannot offer boarding for a while now.

We have 2 holidays booked (first World problems I know) & I can't find any suitable care for my dog.

House sitters I've contacted either have; no reviews, can't walk dogs, only sit the evening, are out the house from 7 to 4pm doing dog walks, etc.

Most home boarders have their own dogs.

Or everyone is just booked until 2024.

I won't put him in kennels. He was a rescue with lots of issues which we've worked on but I'm not risking a regression.

We only found out our walker couldn't have him recently but we aren't going until winter then early next year so I didn't think it would be this hard.

I love my dog but times like this I get frustrated. No advice needed just wanted to vent.

Stop posting if you are going to be rude. Stay at home instead of booking holidays!

What did I say that was rude there? Telling me to stop posting on my own post is rude imo.

We book the dog sitter before the holiday
No appropriate dog care = no holiday

I did but unfortunately due to a change in circumstances our usual boarder can't have him

OP did the same thing and the sitter has cancelled on her.

Apologies OP I missed that

I have similar problem, I just don't go anywhere the dogs can't come too. It is limiting but it us what it is. We just make the best of it.

I've put off booking a holiday because I don't really know what to do with the dog! She's really elderly and very wobbly. Has been given a vet check and nothing found of concern but I don't think she's well enough for kennels.
It's tricky!

Holidays4dogs was able to pair our wobbly 16yo dachshund with a choice of two lovely carers, both of whom were retired nurses. He had a lovely stay with one of them in May.

I'm the opposite! I've signed up for borrow my doggy and also tried to rescue and foster but my laid back, dog friendly cat has meant it's a no, every time.

I don't want a puppy and not 100% I am ready for a dog full time, so dog boarding or similar seemed perfect! I wfh too so here 24/7 more or less!

We use Rover.com. never had a bad experience and the chap we mainly use had no dogs and only takes one at a time

Snowraingain · 27/07/2022 06:05

Have you asked at the vets? They often have people they know or at my vets a couple of the nurses offer the service.

LizziesTwin · 27/07/2022 06:10

The groomers/kennels we use told me they are already fully booked for Christmas and that people are booking for next summer already. It’s a large kennels, they are licensed for 120 dogs.

Not sure why OP is being accused of being rude. Hope you get things sorted.
