Our dog (cockerpoo) is 6 and been for short car journeys lots of times. We have an a fixed attachment that clips onto her harness. She doesn’t settle really though - perpetually getting up and down, fine one minute but then trying to get to the other side of the car the next. She hates it if I’m in the front and tries to get to me all the time so I tend to sit in the back with her. I get car sick quite easily and all the lurching about with her usually has me wanting to vomit pretty quickly!

We’ve our main summer holiday booked with the kennels but we also want to do a week at my Mothers 4 hours away. My husband has only just got sign off on some leave and Sod’s law, our kennel (and it seems every other place I’ve tried) are booked. I’ve had a quote from a home dog sitter but it was really expensive.

We’re considering making the journey with our dog - any suggestions on how to do this without it being a nightmare?

My spaniel wouldn’t settle in the car when sat on a seat with a harness on. I didn’t have space in the boot for a crate so ended up buying a Maelson fabric crate. It has seatbelt clips so you can securely attach it in the car. He seems much happier and he’s certainly much safer. They are expensive but probably cheaper than kennels!

Thank you! That looks like it might work.
