Just got back from the vet's.
They suspect Lymphoma in my boy, he's 13 1/2yrs old.
Samples of his lymph glands have been sent off, results tomorrow.
Anyone any experience with this?
Please be gentle, I'm devastated

Just seen your post, I’m so sorry. No experience of lymphoma, but I lost my last dog at a great age last summer, and I feel for you if you’re going to have to go through that.

But it is a comfort to know you’ve always done your best to look after them, and put their ease and quality of life above your own.

I hope you get better news than you’re expecting.

Sadly yes. We lost our 13 year old staffie to this last year. All I can say is that he was given weeks or months from diagnosis and lived for another 2 years. We chose not to put him through chemotherapy as we chose quality over quantity yet he still enjoyed his life for a lot longer than expected. Hope you get the best outcome possible 💐

Thank you for your kind replies.
The results came back positive and we've decided to go with the steroid treatment.
Chemotherapy would just be too much at his age plus he hates going to the vet's.
Hopefully we'll get a little longer with him and we can spoil him rotten.
He is my shadow and it will be awful when he goes but at least we have time to prepare.

So sorry you didn’t get the news you wanted. 💐

That’s exactly what we did in terms of treatment and he really did live a very happy 2 years afterwards. Sending lots of luck and positive vibes to you and you lovely dog. Don’t be afraid to introduce painkillers (if needed, via your vet) at time goes on. It makes the world of difference. No-one knew our boy was ill by looking at him, he was the happiest soul.

So this afternoon he was put to sleep in my arms, his body was shutting down and it was time to let him go.
Home feels awful. Everything reminds me of him but I hope he is in a happier place.
