Chihuahua advice

Can anyone tell me if chihuahuas shed much? We already have a really calm little chihuahua cross but she doesn’t shed at all, (we get her clipped every 6 weeks) and I’ve seen some lovely full chihuahua puppies this week, the mum had longer hair and the dad short hair, the owner said mum doesn’t shed at all and it didn’t look like she did but the dad definitely did when we touched him, the mum had beautiful really pale colour hair and so did all the pups, none were short darker haired like the dad. Also our chihuahua cross is calm and well behaved and was east to train, recall etc and some dog agility, would a full chihuahua be more likely to be louder eg barking/defensive or snappy? Any info appreciated please.

I have a short hair chihuahua.
He definitely sheds!
Its not that noticeable being so small but yes he definitely sheds, my clothes often have hairs after stroking him.

Re the colour.
Their colour will probably darken over time.
My boy was the purest, brightest, most glistening polar white when I bought him.
Hes matured into pale cream with darker tan running down his back.

My chihuahua is not at all snappy, not in the slightest.
Hes never shown any aggression whatsoever, even when the vet clips his nails (which he hates).
He is however pretty nervous of people he doesn’t know.
This is despite extensive socialising since 8 weeks old.

He can usually muster up the courage to give them a sniff or eat a treat offered but backs off straight away if they go to touch him.
literally every single person who has had a chihuahua that talks to me about him says their chihuahua was/is exactly the same (scared of new people) so I’d be mindful of that, they seem to be a very stranger wary breed.
Mine isn’t much of a barker at all.

Ok that sounds all good apart from the shedding! Will go have another look and see if can really check if the mum dies or not, I was surprised as I know my friends shirt hair one sheds a fair bit and wondered if long hair ones just don’t shed much, thankyou for the info re the stranger awareness

I have heard that the long hair ones shed much less while the short hairs shed quite a lot.
That is true for mine but tbh, they are so small you don’t really notice it all that much.
i have a big collie aswell and you definitely notice hers all around the house!
