Dog coming upstairs and looking for us during the night

She is 6 (golden retriever) and has been trained to not come upstairs since a pup, but somehow that rule has relaxed. She frequently enters our bedrooms (noisily) at night and makes squeaking noises and nuzzles for our hands etc to wake us up. Last night she managed to open my DC bedroom and woke them up. No idea what is causing this!

She doesn't need the loo or anything just seems to want company or a stroke?

Shut her downstairs?

Yes, I suspect it's company and maybe some reassurance.

Has anything changed downstairs - could something have scared her or be disturbing her which is causing her to come and find you?

Would it be a problem to have a bed for her upstairs long-term?

Awwww poor baby, maybe she just needs some reassurance. It must be scary to be alone at night all the way downstairs
