Kennel club registration

A slightly dull question, but……..

I have a 14 week old puppy.

I’ve changed his PETtrac microchip details to my name and contact details so if he’s ever lost I’ll be contacted.

He’s currently registered to his breeder with the kennel club.
I have no intention of breeding or showing him.
Does it matter if I don’t change his kennel club details?
It’s only a small fee, but I’d rather not spend it if it’s not essential.

I mean, it’s not absolutely vital or anything, but if there’s ever a dispute over ownership it’d help prove he’s yours.

I would change it in case there's ever any issues with the breeder down the line.

For the sake of £17 I would change the dogs ownership details

Doesn’t matter in the slightest. Now I do agility I have changed mine, but never bothered before.

I did it with my new puppy back in January, as until he is registered in your name any dispute over ownership won't go your way.
