Purely pets insurance

Have done a search on the above but no recent posts.

Any experience with Purely Pets? It’s coming up quite a bit cheaper than Many Pets who I’m currently with (not that I’ve ever had to claim!)

TIA

Is it for equivalent lifetime cover?
Haven't heard of them tbh

Yep for lifetime cover.

My last dog was insured with them... they got really bad at paying out, doing things like refusing claims because they were dated the day he’d been seen by the vet and not after and refusing claims for painkillers because the vet was a pain and behavioural specialist and they don’t cover behavioural treatment. And also asking for his full medical history on every claim... he’d only ever been insured with them, they’d had his history already. This was all for the same longterm joint issue, not new problems.

They also tripled the renewal price after claims, we ended up just cancelling when they wanted £200 a month and it was cheaper to just buy his painkillers and save the rest in case anything else cropped up.

Eek I've just gone with them as they were half the price of pet plan for £9000 cover and lifetime and inc video vet. My dog is only 1 though and I've not had to claim before so hopefully will be ok.

Have you got a cooling off period?

The most important thing about insurance is that they pay out. If you only look at that criteria, I have only heard 100% good reviews about Pet Plan and Many Pets/Buy by Many.

We had to claim £4000 from PetPlan and they were amazing. Paid out no questions asked even though our dog had an accident in the very same month that we got the insurance.

Bought by Many*

Thanks for all the replies!

As a previous poster said they are nearly half the price of Many Pets but I have a 15% discount they give for second dog so will see where that gets me with MP.

At least my new Border terrier is half the price to insure than my lab though😅I swear I spend more on my animals than my children!

We were with them for my springer. As his premium went up so much when he turned 8 that we needed to find a cheaper one.
Last year hey paid out no quibble the whole amount (£7500) when he was really poorly and had to have an operation and then a week at a referral centre. However I knew after this his premium would go up at the next renewal and it went from £90 a month to £170 so we cancelled it. But this has been the case with all other pet insurance companies I’ve used. Sometimes they’ve even doubled when the pet turns 8 as this when a pet is considered elderly. My springer is 13 so he wasn’t young when he became ill.
