Chew toys at night

This may be a really daft question, I'm not a first time dog owner but older pup slept in a crate for 6 months and just had cuddly toys with him. New pup is 11 weeks and is a large breed (likes to chew lots).

Last night I woke up about 3am to hear him chewing on an antler. Think it must have fallen onto the floor. He chewed it for a short time then went back to sleep. I'm not sure he should have something like that in the night for safety so could put something else out for him but should we be encouraging him to be chewing toys etc in the night or should he just be sleeping. I know it sounds crazy but 1st pup just sleeps all night and never really stirs at all.

We take all our toys away from the dog at night because otherwise she thinks it’s play time and we can hear her woofling around downstairs

id also take chew toys off a puppy in case they’re a choking hazard

Yeah, even at 5 we only let her have things like that under supervision only. Mind you, she mostly sleeps or snoozes anyway so not much of an issue here!

Yes I have only ever let the dogs have those sorts of things supervised, even with my older pup.

He doesn't seem to mess around at night, he is on the floor in our room so I would hear him. I imagine he stirred and saw the antler so it was tempting.

I guess I just wanted to check that I wasn't being over the top by removing toys at night. He has always had his cuddle pillow and a rope teddy thing but he seems disinterested in those anyway..
