I have a chihuahua named Amy. I am rehousing another chihuahua from a rescue centre. I have a predicament, the new dog is also named Amy. Both are middle aged dogs. What to do? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

I would rename the 2nd dog to something with similar sound. Like Remy or Annie

Yes, rename the dog you're rehoming but make it something similar to Amy.

If you name it something too similar then they might as well have the same name tbh. I had a dog called Ben once and a visiting dog called bing, they both thought i meant them no matter which I said.

Names aren’t really names to dogs, they’re just the noise you make that means you’re doing something with them, they don’t mind if you change them.

Though... I’m quite amused at the thought of having two dogs with one name tbh.
