Neighbour is telling people that my dog is dangerous and bit him

Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice.
My very nosy neighbour loves to report people for ridiculous things but as far as I was aware he had no issue with us. Until today one of my other neighbours asked me if it was true that my dog had bitten the nosy neighbour, this is of course completely untrue. My dog can be reactive and for that reason always wears a muzzle but as 99% sure that my dog has never even seen my nosy neighbour. Please advise as I am quite concerned that he is going to take this further. Should I confront him? Maybe just say that I think you're mistaken as it wasn't my dog?

Tell them your ddog doesn't eat junk food and smile. And tell the ndn you will seek legal advice if he continues to slander you..

Ask your nasty neighbour to see the bite marks.
Or start your own rumour that nasty neighbour bit your dog.
