Tractive tracker?

Has anyone used one?

Our ddog is on a long line and won’t be offllead anytime soon as recall is hit and miss but I get so anxious he might dart off I think I’d feel happier if they had a tracker.

Looking for any recommendations?

Yes. I got one after my 9 month old puppy was terrified by another dog and ran away from me in the park. Highly recommend the Tractive. Easy to use, has live tracking so you can see exactly where they are. Has given me a lot of peace of mind because whilst she has good recall no dog would easily do this if they are in fight/ flight and their nervous system has taken over and this particular dog is local and I don’t trust them not to chase her again.
You do need to be somewhere there is mobile reception though, so do bear in mind the live tracking won’t work if there’s no signal.

Or if you've got an iPhone you can get an air tag that if he goes near anyone with an iPhone you can track to the metre

Tractive has its own gps, so won’t give you a meter by meter map of your walk but will let you know where they are and has a live mode if your dog gets lost. They are quite big though so if you have a little dog you might find it a bit bulky.
AirTags rely on the network of apple phones to ping locations, so are only real useful if you are likely to lose your dog in a busy area like a park, they are useless in rural areas or countryside.
I’ve heard good things about pitpat but never used.

I have the cat one and it is excellent.

Sadly my cat is a genius and figured out how to remove his collar within one day which led to us having to track down the collar minus cat from a field.

It did however show us how big the cat's range was - far further than we had thought.

Cat is now learning how to cope with collar minus tractive before we try again.

I have them for mine and htey work well. I keep mine on a seperate cloth collar to make taking them off and charging easier.

I think this is allowed? I have one of those referral code thingies which will give you a bit of a discount if you decide to go ahead. tractive.com/r/AyS3OC

We’re urban so we have an AirTag and a collar designed to take it. It doesn’t even show. Haven’t lost her yet but inevitable!
