Sunday 5pm urgent help I've found a dog

Hi

Out on a walk on my own, have acquired a stray dog

Called the dog warden am waiting for them to call me back

But what do I do? There is no one about, dog has followed me for about a mile?

What do I do?
It's wearing a collar no id tag

Update - got to the nearest village and bumped into a lady walking her dog.

Asked for her advice, explained the situation, she's out in on FB and taken the dog in

We've swopped numbers, so fingers X'd she'll let me know what happens

Also in middle of nowhere, phone reception not great, hope the pics will upload when I'm back home and on wifi

This is why dogs should be wearing ID tags and not just a microchip - the owner is probably frantic somewhere and has no chance of being contacted until the microchip can be scanned, probably in the morning.

Oh he's lovely and looks well cared for. Someone will definitely be missing him. Hopefully he'll be reunited with his owner before too long.

I think there's a lot people who don't realise that dogs in public places must have an ID tag, as well as being chipped. Of course, this dog could have been stolen and then dumped and had his tag removed.
