My dogs are really agitated

Is there anything I can do to calm them quickly?

One of our neighbours has a very aggressive dog and we’ve just heard a very brief and incredibly loud dog fight from it, my dogs are inside the house, the neighbours dog was being walked outside.

Soon as we heard the screams both my dogs were panicked, it’s been about 10 minutes now and they are still really stressed.
My older one is lying down looking incredibly tense and my younger one is pacing and huffing at every tiny little noise (it’s very windy outside).

They are both really agitated and unsettled Sad

Do you have a dog chew or something you could give them to distract them?

Dog sleep music or classic fm. Poor things, mine’s a bit unsettled tonight but I think it’s the weather.

Do they need to go outside and check its all OK now? My dog would.

Put classical music on- that’s what I do for our anxious older girl bonfire night and see if you can get them to lick-as it helps them calm themselves-try smearing a bit of food on something that will take awhile to lick off.i have a lickimat which u could get yourself for future use

I don’t unfortunately, I have their regular toys but I don’t know if trying to engage in a game might make them worse?

I’ll try that thank you, I’ve seen dog music videos on YouTube before.

Sad
Mine don’t mind the weather at all, they were sleeping nice and content when we suddenly heard high pitched yelping/screaming and growling outside and I went and looked out the window to see said neighbour rushing home with their vicious dog Angry

Funny you say that, my younger one often gets ‘licky’ if he feels a bit stressed/unsure of something.

I’ve just been stroking the two of them and the younger one has been manically licking my hand and arm while I’ve been letting him and is visibly calmer.
He’s taken one of his toys and started chewing.

Spread some peanut butter on a plate and let them lick, licking is a calming mechanism for dogs
