Phantom fly catching

Dobermann bitch, coming upto 3 years old.

Recently having these episodes where she appears to be trying to catch a fly that doesn’t exist - head back and snapping into the air over and over again … lasts a minute or so then stops. Is she just being a weirdo?

She’s also a lot quieter lately, sleeping all evening when normally she’d be pacing around getting upto mischief.

One more thing - I thought I was doing really well with my loose lead training but now I’ve realised she’s just tired … after 20 minutes of walking. This is a dog who could previously run all day if allowed to do so.

DH thinks she’s just maturing but with the phantom fly business I’m starting to wonder if there is more to it.
She also shit in the house today which is highly unusual for her, she’s normally an exceptionally clean dog.
She’s eating and drinking fine.

My friends dog did exactly that and it turned out it was a type of epileptic seizure that he is now on medication for.

Neurological symptom

I hope it's nothing serious Thanks

You do need to get a vet visit. It does need checking out

I'd be concerned. It can be seizures or vision problems. Get her a vet appointment. Hopefully it's just a sort of "tic" she's developed and not something else.

It can be anything from behaviour though to neurological, vision related or related to gastric pain (mainly reflux type issues), but the only way to tell will be to get a vet to check, especially with the lethargy as well. My last couple of cases have settled with omeprazole so fingers crossed it's nothing too serious!
