GPS trackers

Can anyone recommend one that tracks well in real time?
Our dog was frightened and chased by another dog out of the park this morning and went missing for some heart stopping minutes that felt like hours. She was found making her way home which is good but had I been able to see where she was heading it would have helped.

We used to use one of the apple things but it wasn't as good

Following! I know some people use Apple AirTags, but it's my understanding that these aren't GPS - rather they triangulate the position of the tag from its proximity to other Apple products. So unless your dog gets lost in a city (or somewhere with lots of people wandering about wiht iPhones) then it won't work. So not much use if they run off into the countryside.

The Tractive looks good - @Ribenery, does it have to be on a collar, or would it work in the pocket of our dog's harness do you think?

We use Tractive after one of ours also gif spooked and was gone for 4 hours!

It just clips to the back of her harness and it’s waterproof etc.

We attach it round the collar but no reason it can't attach anywhere you like. Our spaniel is a muddy puddle swimmer and it's managed to survive all of that!

Another vote for Tractive. The customer service is also excellent.

I’ve got an air tag on my wandering cat and it’s useless. I can find him in my own house but that’s about all…

I use the Tractive on our cocker spaniel, it’s brilliant and worth every penny. Had it 18 months and only needed it in an emergency a couple of times but it’s so reassuring to have and he doesn’t go anywhere without it. Lots of good features, just upgraded to the latest version which has better battery life too.

Comes in 3 colours to match your hound too 🤣

I also used Tractive - handy that when you turn the sound thingy on, they always come home immediately.
