Timing of puppy vaccination - help!

Picked up my puppy from the breeder and he was vaccinated with Novivac L4, so the advice is to have second dose after 4 weeks. Rang our local vet to book him in and they are saying it needs to be given exactly 4 weeks to the day, which seems a bit odd! I’m away with work that day (have got a relative to puppy sit but they don’t have transport to take puppy for vaccinations and I want to be there anyway for the health checks and to discuss care etc) Just wondered if this is something people have come across before! I’ve said I can go first thing the morning after and they are going to check with the vet but they are currently off sick. Just wondered if this was out of the ordinary or usual practice?

I'm pretty certain our pup had that vaccine. Her second dose was delayed by over a week as she was found to have a slight infection when we first took her. There was never any talk of it having to be exactly 4 weeks.

I know our vets were quite particular about timing, they nearly wouldn't give it as I didn't have her vaccination card so they could double check the dates (we'd shown the vaccination card when we first booked the appointment at our initial checkup)

Mine is booked for 4 weeks plus one day later, they didn’t bat an eyelid. Seems strange that a vaccine could be that time sensitive, I assumed it was approximately 4 weeks (but then I am not a vet!)

Ours had the L4 vaccine and his records show it wasn't bang on four weeks to the day. I

How odd Confused

I’d speak to another vet.. what if they are off sick that day Grin

I am a vet. It’s 4-6 weeks between L4 vaccinations, by the data sheet. No vaccine is that time sensitive!

Thank you @moredogsthansense - I thought it sounded ridiculous as what if it was a bank holiday and the vet clinic was shut?! That’s useful to know. Think I’ll look at another vets!

To be fair, could it have just been an inexperienced receptionist who’d got the wrong end of the stick?
