Springer getting neutered in the morning

Our 2 year old Springer is getting neutered in the morning, I've got no idea what to expect any advice how to cope with the next week. The vets not gave us any info really just to bring him at 8.30am and not to feed him and they will call when he's ready. It's DH who's spoken to the vet so typical for him not to ask questions, he's not even asked how much it costs.

It'll be around £150. Have you got a baby gro/surgery suit for him? If not ask them for one at the vets to stop him licking his wounds. He'll be quiet for a day or two but then back to his springer self. You'll need to keep him calm for a week or so. Stock up on a licky mat and some kongs to keep him engaged.

Cost is often determined by weight and if you have fluids and pain meds ( do have them!). We had a vest for our dog when he was done last year. The vet supplied and we bought a spare. He needed rest for a few days then short on lead walks for a few weeks. I think it was only after post op check up he was allowed ups( we have a town house so that was a pain). He got a bit bored so we upped the food games using Kongs etc. he wanted to play with our other dog but after a few days that was okay too. The vet will usually call about 2 to say how it's all gone and to book a collection appointment when they will go through post op care
