Hi
Before I head to my vets because I'm worried
My dog and I walk all over the local woods and fields and this evening I've noticed this raised lump on his leg.
He's been licking it a lot this evening , I've washed it but he keeps liking it so will book a vet asap but anyone have any ideas what it may be please ?
Thank you

Aww poor wee soul, that looks sore Sad.

Do you think it could be a histiocytoma? Google it and compare some pictures, see what you think.

One of my dogs had one years ago (I'm sure my vet said they're most common in dogs under the age of 3). It wasn't in such an easy to reach place though so she wasn't able to lick it much, but it was obviously bothering her so we got it removed.

Hope you get your dog sorted out soon, are you going to the vet tonight?

@CarrieMoonbeams thank you so much for your reply x
It looks a lot like that , he had a vet check today as it's his 6 month post neutering and the nurse said the same but as it's not painful he is booked in to see the vet tomorrow at 4 , just to be sure in case it does need to come off xx

How did the wee fella get on at the vet @foxlover47? X

Hi @CarrieMoonbeams
Thank you for caring 😊
We saw the nurse for his review and then the vet and she said although it looked harmless she wanted to do a fna scrape and look at it , so she took two needle scrapes , poor boy he was hating it and said she didn't think it needed a cream as it's not hurting him and I did say he's been licking off any cream I put on it when I first discovered it.
She called me less than a hour later and said although the slides are not 100% accurate she is 99% certain that is it a histiocytomas so should regress by itself in the next few weeks
So thank the lord it seems to be what you said , I've been so worried 😟
He's not been licking it and irritated looks smaller than it did on Monday but I think he felt sorry for himself last night bless him xx

Phew, that's a relief, they're such a worry aren't they? I get myself in such a state when any of mine aren't right too.

Tell him though that it could be worse - my girl (the one who also had the histiocytoma) was at the vet yesterday as her anal glands were swollen and the vet had to empty them! Ouch!!

Hope your boy is better soon, give him a kiss on the nose from me x

Oh no bless her 😳 I certainly don't envy that :/ is she feeling better today 🥰
Thank you I will 😘 I felt so bad for him as he has the old style microchip without the temp reading attached so he also had to have his temp taken the traditional way 🙈🙈, he'd already had that a the nurse check so I can see why he felt glum last night !
He's back to himself today thank you , I hope your girl and him continue to be well and the others .. Big nose boops xx🐶❤️
