How do you know a dog loves you?

I've had my rescue dog for nearly a year & he is the light of my life. He is very affectionate & eager to please (but has a cheeky side), and seems happy & settled. But how do you know if a dog loves you? He's my first dog so I'm learning a lot as I go - insights from more experienced dog owners would be really helpful Smile

I actually just saw a video on ways to know your dog loves you. It's titled 10 sings to know your dog loves you.

Mine cries to get on my knee when I'm hugging the kids and gets jealous.

When I was sad (couldn't get out of bed sad) and she laid on me with her head on my chest and didn't move. I'm not generally sad, it was an event that happened and she just knew I was in pain.

When she does the wiggle bum when I get home.

When she climbs into the tiny space beside me on the sofa so that she's cocooned in rather than lie in the masses of space on the rest of it.

When she falls properly asleep when you're cuddling her, like she's in the safest place in the world. Smile

My DH had been away for work for 3 months
and I took our doggo (AKA The Chump) with me when I drove to the station to pick him up on his return. DH opened the boot of the car to put his bags in and say hello to The Chump. The Chump was so excited that he could barely move, he was trembling all over and then let out a proper scream before throwing himself at DH. I've never seen/heard anything like it from a dog before. The Chump was literally beside himself with excitement. I had never really realised how much The Chump loves us until that day.
