Dog Collar Colours

Hi, bit of a stupid one and can't believe I didn't already know but does everyone else know that there's a list of what each dog collar colour means?!

I've always had my 2 year old chocolate lab in a red collar and a red lead as I thought the colour suited his coat best but whilst searching for a new collar for him I learned that red indicates an aggressive dog and not to approach, I'm pretty mortified to be honest as he's the friendliest boy ever.

If you saw a dog with a red collar would you give it a wide berth?

Now trying to find one for him which indicates he's just plain old fashioned daft though very friendly!

I've had dogs for thirty years and chose the colours I wanted. People with dogs with problems should not inflict their choices on others but take their own measures. I have yellow in winter as it shows up well. A friend has red as it looks brilliant with her dog's coat. My puppy has blue ditto.

I was aware that there was a ‘system’ but aside from Yellow I wouldn’t take any notice if a dog was wearing any other colour , just go with whatever suits your dog .

My dog always wears red jumper and red harness and collar. Just because she looks nice. I did not know if meant aggressive. She is beyond nuts, will lick you to death!

My dog is reactive and has a red harness.

I think this has helped a lot as other owners are much more considerate about recalling their own dogs or putting them on a lead when passing.
